Active Release Techniques® in Burlington
Active Release Techniques® (ART) is a soft tissue management system so different it was granted a medical patent. To become an ART provider, each provider must complete extensive hands-on instruction with written and practical testing unparalleled by other soft tissue programs. They are trained to palpate and treat more than 300 muscular injuries, and over 100 nerve entrapments, which often cause numbness and tingling.
This soft tissue management system focuses on relieving tissue tension via the removal of adhesions, which develop in tissues due to overload or repetitive use. These disorders may lead to muscular weakness, numbness, aching, tingling, and burning sensations. Treatment duration and frequency may vary depending on the severity and complexity of the injury. However, most patients experience rapid recovery.

What’s Causing the Pain?
ART is used to treat symptoms in muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Its design is threefold:
- to restore free and unimpeded motion of all soft tissues
- to release entrapped nerves, vasculature, and lymphatics
- to re-establish optimal texture, resilience, and function of soft tissues.
Who Can Benefit?
Your ART provider is qualified to diagnose and treat over 400 structures, so we see a wide range of injuries and conditions. We have had success with professional and amateur athletes, auto accident injuries or work accidents, and people who just work hard and are hurting.
Conditions we see include rotator cuff injuries, plantar fasciitis, tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow, shin splints, carpal tunnel, and headaches, to name a few.
